BOB COATES

I create artwork with many materials, including clay, bronze, mixed media, and found objects. I paint, draw, and sculpt...and dance and sing as I am working happily. 

 

Much of my inspiration comes from personal experiences, the environment, and cultures from around the world. Prehistoric art, American Indian cultures, surrealism, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, mythology, as well as many other influences are reflected in my work. Human faces and figures are always starting points when I'm creating. The figures display attitudes,  represent myths, and tell stories. 

 

My favorite piece is always the one I'm currently working on.
